Remedial Massage Therapist- Tim Harman
I've now been a bodyworker for 19 years. I pride myself on avoiding formulaic massages by listening to what you want, every time, as well as what I feel and see in your body. Attention to detail is the key. My sessions bring together a wide variety of techniques that I've learned and continue to learn, too many to mention.
I've always been involved in sports like rugby, triathlon, cycling and now surfing. Playing grade rugby and doing 5 Ironman triathlons has also taught me a great deal about the body and how to get the most out of it through sensible training, recovery, eating and body maintenance.
Even 19 years in, I still get pleasure out of seeing people improve and helping them to use their bodies better.
Getting a well-planned and detailed massage can be invaluable for back pain, neck pain, headaches, pregnancy, life stress, worn joints, sports, postural soreness & maintenance.
Over this time, I've become more interested mental health and how our minds can impact us physically. To that end, I completed a Diploma in Mind Body Medicine (Kinesiology) & continue to educate myself in this area. Following this Diploma, I came across a process popular with psychologists called Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is a simple and direct therapy, especially for stress, anxiety and depressive disorders. How we think, how we view ourselves and environment directly shapes our life. I now see our minds and thoughts as something that can, just like our body, be maintained and managed.
Unhelpful thoughts, leading to stress, anxiety and/or forms of depression are a big deal for many of us and I plan to integrate this into my treatments soon for those interested.
