Muscular Tightness & Tension
That tightness across your shoulders that won't shift no matter how much you stretch. The lower back stiffness when you stand up. The neck that feels like it's locked up. Muscle tension is one of the most common things we see at the clinic — and one of the most overlooked.
What is muscular tightness?
Tight muscles aren't usually the root problem — they're usually the body's response to something else. Restricted joints, postural imbalance, repetitive movements, stress, dehydration, and old injuries all contribute. The muscle tightens up to protect, support, or compensate for something that isn't moving properly.
Common areas: the upper trapezius (top of shoulders), neck, lower back, hip flexors, glutes (especially piriformis), and forearms. Most of the time the tightness builds slowly until you suddenly notice you can barely turn your head or you're getting headaches.
How chiropractic care can help
We don't just stretch and hope. We assess what's driving the tightness — which joints aren't moving, which postural patterns are loading the muscles, and what's needed to actually release them and keep them released.
Treatment combines chiropractic adjustments to free up restricted joints, soft tissue work to release the tight muscle, dry needling (with Ben Robins, our remedial massage therapist) where appropriate, and rehabilitation exercises to build back strength and mobility where it's needed.
Why Palm Beach Chiropractic
Muscular tightness usually doesn't resolve with stretching alone. Our combined chiropractic and remedial massage approach addresses both the joint and the muscle — and we work out the underlying driver so it doesn't keep coming back.
Areas we service
We see locals from across the southern Gold Coast — including Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads, Elanora, Tugun, and Currumbin.
