Sports Injury Chiropractic Care
Whether you're a weekend surfer, a competitive runner, an AFL player or a golfer who plays three times a week, sports injuries come with the territory. The right care, started early, can make the difference between a quick recovery and an issue that lingers for months.
What are sports injuries?
We see a wide range of sports-related injuries: lower back pain from surfing or weight training, shoulder issues from paddling and overhead sports, knee problems from running, ankle sprains, hip pain from kicking sports, elbow and wrist issues from racquet and stick sports, and the wear-and-tear that comes from years of training.
Sports injuries usually involve some combination of joints, muscles, ligaments and nerves. The trick is identifying what's actually injured, what's compensating around it, and how to get you back to your sport without re-injuring.
How chiropractic care can help
Dr Paul has a particular sports background — he trained alongside leading European sports chiropractors during his seven years working in Scotland and England. He's worked with triathletes, ultra-marathon runners, equestrian athletes and team sport athletes both there and locally on the Gold Coast.
Treatment for sports injuries combines: acute care to settle pain and inflammation, joint adjustments to restore movement, soft tissue work for tight or strained muscles, rehabilitation exercises to rebuild strength and movement patterns, and return-to-sport planning. We also work with you on prevention — what to do to reduce the chance of it coming back.
Why Palm Beach Chiropractic
We see sports patients every week — surfers, runners, AFL players, golfers, tennis players, riders, climbers, the lot. We understand that you want to get back to your sport, not stop it altogether — so the plan is built around that.
Areas we service
We see locals from across the southern Gold Coast — including Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads, Elanora, Tugun, and Currumbin.
